This is what happens when a 2 year old roughs around with a old man. Sawyer was playing with a grandpa in church on Sunday, just roughing around, having alot of fun until.....the guy decides to dodge Sawyer's full blast move, resulting in Sawyer runnimg full throttle into a table at eye level. Needless to say the guy felt real bad, and Sawyer comes away with a great battle wound.

Elk Refuge
WE decided to take a little day trip to Jackson for the main purpose of going to the elk refuge. It was fun, Ryan and Dennis talked about the big horns, Sawyer was excited to see reindeer, since that is his favorite thing in the world, Julia had fun, but froze, and I just enjyed the relaxation. We had a lot of fun, but some advice: Don't try to eat out in Jackson Hole before 5 pm, there is nothing open.
Valentines
I must admit I was not that great about taking pictures this valentines. The kids made thier own valentines and had fun deciding who was going to get which one in their classes. Sawyer had a fun little party at play group. He was way into the candy, what can I say he is a candyoholic. Dennis was sure sweet for valentines, as always, but I must say that this year he was most thoughtful. Since I found out that I am type I diabetic, I have not been able to be a sugar-a-holic. (that must be where Sawywer gets it from) I crave chocolate a lot and these yummy sugar cookies from our local bakery. So for valentines Dennis got me five of those sugar cookies and six dove chocolate bars. The most thoughful part was the notes attached to each cookie. There is this great book by Gary Chapman entitled "The Five Love Languages", well it is a great book and everyone should read it.
Anyhow, he attached something to each cookie that would fullfill one of the love languages. What a sweetheart. I really am lucky to have him and my kids. I love Valentine's Day.
TRAMPOLINE
For Ryan's birthday he got a trampoline. I am surprised that I have not blogged about it yet. The kids love it, they spend tons and tons of time on it. Sawyer spends the most time on it. Even when it is VERY cold outside he likes to go out and jump. He prefers if someone will jump with him, but if I will not go out while the kids are at school, he will go by himslef. He spends about 1 hour a day on it. What a great baby sitter.

Too old for his own good
Today I was telling Sawyer that it was time for his nap and he was arguing with me. I said "Sawyer you know what time it is" and he says "It nap-o'clock"
Seriously how does he even think of something like that.
Seriously how does he even think of something like that.
Growing up

I do not like my kids to grow up. It seems like every age presents a stepping stone that just shoves into your face that they are growing up. Ryan started Cub Scouts. He really enjoys it a lot. He likes to have list of stuff that he gets to mark off when he is done and then get an award, so this is right up his alley. I think he looks mighty handsome in his uniform, even if it does symbolize him growing up.
No Men!!
SO I had to major laugh when I came around the corner and saw this on Julia's door. "no man in my bedroom!" I think that we just might make this a permanent sign that we will leave there until she is about 30!! I am sure that being a kindergartner, that man was easier to sound out then boy, but non-the-less, I am a BIG fan of the sign.
Last year in my 20's
Well last month was my 29th birthday. I cannot believe that next year I will be 30. Really it is just a number, does not bother me too much, but this is my last year to be in my 20's. I had a great day. I went to lunch the day before with friends, the day of with Dennis and the day after with friends. I have some great friends. The evening of my b-day we went as a family to dinner and then Dennis's present to me, we went jacket and shoe shopping. I love to buy jackets and shoes and Dennis does not, so a great present from him. Dennis is so good about letting the kids pick out my presents and they get the greatet things. Sawyer got me a card (which was missing when I took the picture)of kung fu panda, his favorite movie, julia got me a book on 'momisms' and Ryan got me a coupon book. Funny thing about Julia's present, I was doing her hair and she was being a turkey and she asked me if I wanted her to go get the book so I would know what to say to her and I said "Oh-I know what to say!" and she said "That's probably in the book" She laughs and laughs about the momisms in the book. Ryan's coupon book was actually a coupon book that you give your kids when they have good behavior, but most of them can work both ways. (he does not know this so SHHHH!) so when he gave me the book he said there was one coupon that I would not like, "Go ahead and stink, you can skip a bath today!" He is right I would not think that was a treat. Also my mom sent flowers that were beautiful, Thanks mom! It was a grat day, I love my family.
Winter+restlessness=WRESTLING
With it being so cold outside, the kids cannot go outside to get rid of all of their energy. So what happens, they get hours upon hours of wrestling time. I truly think it is their favotire thing to do. Sawyer is way into acting like rocky balboa. He gets his fists ready and then dances back and forth as he is jumping, Way to cute, I should video it. Julia has so much fun, it is too cute to see her little girly self getting these mean little faces as she tries to hurt her dad. And Ryan, well Ryan is just too strong for his own good and often gets in trouble for hurting Dennis too much. aLl in all it is fun thing to watch, I am glad that I am not the one they are beating up.

Ryan's baptism
Ryan's baptism was a great day. We had alot of family come for the baptism. Ryan was so handsome that day and at the end of his baptism he got up and said a few things. He thanked people for coming and he bore his testimony, I never loved him more then I did at that moment. The only thing that made me sad was to think about how grown up he is. I want him to stay little forever, but it sure is neat to see him grow up and become the person that he is. He is a great kid!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR
Again I was not so great about getting pictures, but we did have a good new year's eve. We were at my in-laws. We played games and chatted. I have decided that for my new year's resolution I am just going to try and be better. In all aspects of my life I just want to be better. Here is a funny picture of Julia though. When we started to count down to the new year we told her it was going to be a new year and not her birthday anymore, big, big mistake. She burst into tears, she wanted it to be her birthday until she went to sleep and woke up again. I think she was a little over tired. You think? also for the new year day, the guys went coyote hunting. It was Sawyer's first time to go and he was thrilled. He kept talking about it. They did not get to shoot any coyotes, but they saw something like 14 eagles. SO now when anything is shot, Sawyer will tell you that it is an eagle.
Lu's Happy #6

Sometimes having a birthday on the last day of the year makes it hard, but I would have to say that Julia is very lucky. She got to celebrate her birthday a lot this year. We started with he choice of breakfas, eggs and pancakes w/ her first set of candles. That day we went to the movie to see The Tale of Desperuex. Then we went to the Updikes for New Years, so she got a cake with her 2nd set of candles. Then a week later she had her PJ birthday party, with her cake and 3rd set of candles. I think she got plenty of blowing out candles. For her birthday she got a baby my little pony, the wierd looking stuffed animal that she loves from Ryan, a cheetah sweat suit and a new scripture case. She ahd a great birthday, she ahd 8 girls that came to her party and let me tell you girls can scream!!!!!!!
Massey Christmas get together

The weekend after Christmas we were still clebrating the joyous holiday. We mad e trip to Vernal Ut for the annual pheasant hunt. Unfortunately the hunt was cancelled due to bad weather, but we still had a great tiem hanging with them fam. We had our gift exchange and put the little kids to bed and stayed up WAY to late playing endless games. Carl and Lindsay intoduced us to the game ticket to ride and we loved it. We look forward to purchasing it. We also were able to see the extened Massey family at Bud and Janice's house for the annual bingo get together. I am not sure why but I took no pictures that day. It was fun and we always love the fun bingo prizes. This get together ened our Christmas parties for the year.

CHRISTMAS 2008

Christmas, Christmas, Christmas; Always a fun day. WE told the kids that they could get up whenever they wanted they just had to get us up before they went in to the living room. IT was not until about 7:30 that we hear Ryan yelling from his bedroom, "mom, dad it's Christmas!" We assumed that the nightly visits to the bathroom kept him asleep until 7:30. WE went and got him, came up and woke Julia up and then met in Sawyer'r room for prayers. Sawyer would not get out of bed, we had to carry him out to the living room crying. He did stop crying when we got him out there to see his loot. Ryan got among other things a scooter, racetrack and remote helicopters. Julia got a canopy/daybed, a doll she can do hair on and a swimming doll. Sawyer recieved a handy manny tool set, a batman castle and a diego laptop. Sawyer liked to just play with one thing for a long time and then look at something else. Ryan was all over getting and opening as fast as he could. Julia was so happy about her canopy bed that everything else took second place. Dennis's folks came over for the day and we just ate and played all day.
Christmas Eve
I think that opening new pj's on Christmas eve is probably the oldest tradition in ever. I loved it and I remeber even being the know-it-all that I was, saying on Christams eve we get to open a present and it is going to be "PJ's". I found it very funny this year when I told the kids that we were going to let them open one present, and the first thing that Ryan said was " it is going to be PJ'S!" Funny! We did all the normal traditional stuff, we made cookies for santa, opened a gift, read the Christmas story out of the scripture and just. enjoy being around each other. The new tradtion that we added this year was the many bathroom breaks that Ryan felt like he had to take after he was in bed. Normally we never see him get out of bed to go potty after he has gone to bed, but that night he was up wbout 6 times. Sawyer was very excited about the reindeer, he wanted us to find them for him. No luck there. He also wanted us to keep opening the front door so he could shout "Merry Christams ho ho ho" Julia was tired and just wanted to go to sleep. It was a grand evening.

Winter Fun

Dennis was able to take off almost a whole week during the kids holiday break from school. We got a lot of work that needed to be done, done and we ahd some fun times. We played a lot of games, did some traveling and spent an afternoon and the hills for some winter fun. The plan was to go sledding, which we did some of, but riding the 4-wheelers was a lot more fun. Goes faster and you typically do not get snow all over your face from it. We did get to try out Ryan's new snowboard, that was fun. Julia liked making snowangels and as always Sawyer just had fun dong whatever. What a fun afternoon.

Noland Christmas party

Another Christmas party. This is Dennis's mom's side of the family. They are really good about getting together every Christmas to have a party. They are also very keen on picking themes for parties. This year they pick truck stops as the theme. So we all bought presents for each other at truck stops and the food was themed around that. So we had nachos and hot dogs. Fun times. The kids had a blast and I thought that the most fun thing was watching all us grown-ups play fruit basket(Christmas basket).
Ryan's Big #8

On December 15th Ryan celebrated his 8th birthday. On his actual birthday we went to dinner at wendys and then we went to see Bolt in 3D. Ryan loved it. The next day he had a birthday party with his friends. He chose a bingo/game theme for his party. I made him a bingo cake, super easy, which is why I did it. At his party they played bingo, ate pizza and cake, had a scavenger hunt and jumped on his trampoline. The tramp was what we got him for his birthday. I guess I have not taken any pictures of him on it yet, but he sure loves it even if it is not the most fun present to get in the winter
Trip to SLC
As a fmaily we love to go somewhere and spend the night and just have fun. We spend a lot of time at Litle America. We love to swim there and we love the restuarant there. We just wish they had frequent stay credits. Anyhow we went to Utah to do soem Christmas shopping, since there is no where to shop around here. We spent the night at Little America and went to temple square. There was this most awesome gingerbread house at Littl;e America. I always say that I wm going to make gingerbread houses with my kids and I never do, so at least we have a picture with one.
